Summer Tentpole

Every summer, most people look forward to ushering in the holiday season by sitting down on the beach, hopping on a boat or taking a trip to some faraway land.  However there are the few fairskinned and random people (like me) who look forward to what Hollywood throws out at us every year.

Yes it’s the summer tent pole season! And as the days get checked off, I look to each thursday (movies open on thursday in HK) of the week to see if some of this season’s excuses to drop 80 dollars have been released.

The Avengers (hk release april 26th)

Calling this film a summer tentpole is stretching it as it is released September 28th in the states, but it’s my birthday weekend, and in Hong Kong there is still some sort of a summer going on here so i’m counting this.

Well those are my choices for this summer.  Not too many surprises, i think.  Some of you might say i have some glaring omissions.  But these are the films i am thinking about.  It’s a pretty good summer for and it’s getting better and better each year.  The fall/winter line up is looking good too (The Hobbit Anyone, 007 Skyfall oh the list goes on).  We are getting spoiled for choice.
