Watch out for fake cards getting issued in your name. The company verifying them, Transunion, #transunion is corrupted!
I just tried to get an AMAZON credit card for cheaper shipping. They tried to verify using TRANSUNION.COM. The answers to the verification questions of previous addresses were all wrong. We were allowed to try twice to verify. The second regeneration questions were also all wrong.
I then called Transunion. Once I was verified, I was allowed to check the addresses that they had. Of the 7 addresses they had, one was a work address, but otherwise correct. The agent let it slip that there were 8 possible.
I tried to verify with AMAZON again, and the verification addresses were ALL wrong, no correct answer. There was one name that came up 3 times, ATTN: AMILIA ROQUE (sic). The transmission of data from Transunion servers to their client service must be compromised and is corrupted.
I called Transunion again to let them know what had happened. They were non responsive. I asked for a manager or supervisor. He was less than receptive in his responses, and wanted me to call the Burlington office to troubleshoot their problem. Really?
If they are the guarantor of the credit card issued, then they should be liable for fraudulent cards being issued. However, being big business which is so accommodating of client services, I do not expect this problem to be corrected anytime soon.
I am trying to flag all credit requests to call me for verifications, period. I am also now checking for any cards listed on my report so there are no surprises. Just warning everybody, that the verification system they are using is compromised and the data is wrong, so who ever is changing the data given to verify would know the "correct choice" and can generate credit cards redirected to that phantom address, which sticks you with the bill.
