Article written by 'Sasterawan Negara' and overnight expert and authority on rap music and Malaysian Hip Hop. Thank you for the words of advise. You remind me of a school teacher that used to teach us Bahasa back in school. As much as the class and I loved, learned and began to understand sastera, puisi, sajak, pantun, perbahasan, syair and all that, he could never understand and appreciate rap music. He would make fun of me and the way I spoke, even outside of class. Maybe it was because I had a bit more confidence compared to the other kids and he saw me as a threat. Maybe it was because my command of the English language was much better than his. Maybe it was because I could crack jokes in Malay too, and the whole class would be laughing at him after one if his many failed attacks on me didn't work the way he thought it would. Maybe it was because I always had a comeback for his jabs and pokes. Or maybe he was just a grumpy and jealous old man. But guess what? I think I did alright without him, I think we will do fine without you, sir. Peace out, Uncle. Er, I mean, TERIMA KASIH CIKGU!
