Christmas-over commercialised?

It's the time of the year again....beautiful Christmas lights along shopping stretches, presents, feasting, gathering with family and friends, dressing up etc

But do we actually think how did Christmas come about in the first place?

Mm..not trying to sound like a super religious person, but guess it's to remind everyone including myself that it's to celebrate the joy that Jesus Christ brings into the world with His presence and grace. Perhaps you might have known already, the story of the birth of Jesus wasn't so 'happening', grand or cool as you might thot it to be. Rather, his heavily pregnant mother Mary and husband Joseph were fleeing from the soldiers as ordered by King Herod at that time to kill young baby boys-due to a prophecy that there'd be an upcoming king (& King Herod is afraid of loss of power). They found no proper place for Mary to give birth....only on a hay shack with the farm animals at Bethlehem.

So while we are happily partying away and everything, do take time to think about loving ppl around us with a tiny fraction of like wat Jesus did, selflessly sacrificing his life for everyone including his enemies who prosecuted him to death. Imagine, He came to this world just to die for our sins. Okie sounding a bit morbid here, but yeps, his birth brings Hope, Peace, Joy and Love in this Advent season of Christmas.
