Follows a legendary Shanghai beauty from her glamorous days to her simpler life as she struggles to preserve the dignity of her past while surviving the constant betrayal of her men. She stands tall and proud as she bears witness to the waves of changes to her city from 1947 to 1981, until one wave finally overwhelms her.

Basically Wang Qiyao has lot of men in her life as all her relationships dun seem to last long, since the men have to leave her due to some circumstances. Mr Cheng is the photographer that 'discovered' her to join a beauty pagent and she became the mistress of a government official. Subsequently, Kang Mingxun was another random guy she met and had a baby with. But he had to leave the country too...Was attracted to the old Shanghai settings of the movie...but yeah a bit slow and long, was watching on TV, resting between my busy weekend of classes, but it ended up till nearing 1am... @@
