Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8kM2cjlPog This is my very first blog, for a project I feel passionate about.
For the last few years, I have been working on a film that to me is far more than that. Just how much more has become apparent after we made it. It delves into some of my favorite topics of cultural assimilation and the need to reach across to the unfamiliar, but has also opened my eyes to such issues as the menta l/emotional health of students.
DARK MATTER is a film that I think will stay with you and provoke many kinds of reactions. I urge you to see it, and if you are so inclined, to tell people you know. It premiered at Sundance last year and won the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Prize. Directed by celebrated theater director, Chen Shi-Zheng, it also stars the amazing Chinese actor Liu Ye (CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER, BALZAC AND THE LITTLE CHINESE SEAMSTRESS), Aidan Quinn and the ever transcendent Meryl Streep.
