Jacklyn is not only a theatre practitioner, performer, director, choreographer, screen actress, drama and dance instructor, she was also a part-time DJ with Rediffusion producing a weekly half an hour programme on her backpacking and trekking adventures.
Jacklyn graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and a Diploma in Theatre from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. She also completed the Beijing Dance Academy Overseas Chinese Dance's Grade 6 Examinations in 1996 and obtained the Beijing Dance Academy Certificate for Teaching Chinese Dance from Grade 1 to 9. She continues to upgrade herself by undergoing training with world-renowned theatre practitioners like Philippe Gaulier, Joan Holden, SITI Company and Anne Bogart. In November 2014, Jacklyn went to train at Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards in Italy.
With In Source Theatre, she performed in Mandala at 12th “Theatre Confrontations” International Festival in Lublin, Poland in 2007, and she took up the responsibility of a director and directed Ma, Do You Remember?, for Seoul's 3rd Physical Theatre Festival in 2008. She was a research assistant on Defining “Spiritual Theatre”: a Cross- cultural Study of Rituals and Traditional Body Forms in Singapore from 2005 to 2008. After formally taking over In Source Theatre as the Artistic Director in 2014, Jacklyn was invited to conduct physical training workshops in Thailand and China. She also successfully restaged Mandala with a totally new cast and new elements to mark the return of In Source Theatre to the scene, and started working with National Library Board on community shows for children.
To date, Jacklyn has performed in more than 50 professional productions and films, as well as both English and Mandarin musicals like Expectations (Soracco Musical Group, 2010) and Chase (Singapore I-Lien Drama Society, 2003). She was also involved in the 2003 Arts Festival with contemporary groups like Meredith Monk and Ann Hamilton, as well as commercial productions like Unusual Production’s Butterfly Lovers 40.
