It was a busy week, and an even busier day that concluded with the opening of island6′s most recent exhibition; The Secret Collection of Yuan Meng Chi’en on September 5th, 2012.
Our trusted engineers were putting the final touches to the artworks and the gallery’s appereance. While the rest of the team were running around the gallery and its close vicinity focusing on various different areas i.e packing of artwork, flyer distribution, cleaning of artworks, sound, setting up of the bar, etc.
The hopes were high! Yet what we didn’t expect was the bad weather that coincided with the opening. M50 was not very happening. In comparison to the last M50 Joint Gallery Opening, it’s safe to say that it was a TOTE HOSE (translation; dead pants.) But that didn’t get us discouraged, because we did have loyal island6 followers that showed up, as well as new ones. We even had an old chinese man on crutches come and swipe half the chicken legs into his bag just before chugging a glass of Cava and then disappearing. A few glasses were broken, all of the food was eaten and, fortunately, we had ordered more than enough booze to last the night. The Cava hadn’t even been used up when the Stolichnaya was brought out. Who says you shouldn’t mix your alcohol?
The party ended at around 9.30 pm, which meant we were able to come to work the next morning without a major hangover. That’s a definte plus.
Nevertheless if you could’nt make it to the opening that night, rest assured, the exhibition will last until October 31st, so come by at your convenience and take a look. We would love to see you.
