Swing music, bootleg liquor and flapper girls! Sounds like a great party to me! But as you would expect from island6’ good manners in hosting an event, there was even more entertainment added to that. Our exhibition opening last Friday night under the colour of Shanghai in the 1920ies offered our guests indeed a “roaring” good time!
Besides the graceful live music performed by two charming gentlewomen on the traditional Chinese instruments guzheng 古箏 and erhu 二胡, our visitors could also swing their hips to jazz music or join the dancers of Shanghaiswings to jive the Lindy Hop and the Charleston. The group’s performance quickly turned into a knee-jerk dancing class, where fancy styled people were top-notch jitterbugging, cutting loose and going crazy.
To satisfy the thirst after swinging out, finest Chilean red wine from Portal del Altowas served. Not to forget the homemade dumplings prepared after a secret recipes of great-grandmother Hong May Ling 洪麦凌! Combined with our latest, highly appreciated masterpieces of art, this evening of boozy jollity was definitely not one to speak about in a low voice…
„Seeing is Believing“, therefore check out more photos on our FB-page Opening Party! „Through The Wormhole“. We thank all our sponsors and supporters for this memorable evening! And cheers to all our Daisys, Josephines and Betty Boops, who were not only dressed up perkily, but also could hold their liquor.
That’s the bee’s knees!
