Here is an extract of the Shanghai 24/7 interview of Liu Dao collective represented by Jack and Katharina:
Shanghai 24/7: What does island6 have in store for this year?
Jack: We have lots going on. We have a lot of shows around the world; the New York show is opening up on the 25th, then we have Opposite House in Beijing which will be in April. We’re working on partnerships with various galleries around the world.
Katharina: We are going to stretch the 1930′s theme a little more, because there are still so many ideas that we haven’t created yet. When we plan an exhibition we start brainstorming and normally it’s a huge mountain of ideas. So, there will be some kind of follow-up, which will be the next show. It won’t be exactly the same, but it will definitely be inspired by that era.
Jack: We are going to start doing more interactive artworks, because we really like doing them. We’re going to start playing with new and different media; more paintings, and photography, and we’re going to go further into the manipulation of the photographs and the negatives. We’re going to be part of Jue Festival as well, and are going to coordinate our next opening with them. We’re also going to have a joint opening with Rockbund . island6 will definitely be present this year.
