We’ve been teasing you about it for a few weeks now, and on March 14th – it finally happened! The verssinage for our latest lovechild, island6 Marina, opened up in true Liu Dao style with champagne over flowing, rich treats on offer, and of course a sprinkling of the nefarious pleasure one has come to associate with our now legendary openings. People flocked from all over Phuket to our dazzling location in the Phuket Royal Marina, where they feted our new location, and immersed themselves in the cultural complexities of the Peranakan culture, as celebrated in our first show, “Babas and Yayas.”
Lovely guests delight in the every-flowing bubbly and our sumptuous locale.
Our friends and guests took advantage of the newest island6′s spot right along the marina, as they meandered between our airy, light-filled space and the warm breeze out on the patio.
Walls can’t contain the fabulousness as the party moves on into the evening.
Thai orchids add a sultry touch to our Grand Opening refreshments.
island6 Marina brings Liu Dao’s playful, provocative, multimedia, and multisensory work to a whole new audience. Partygoers at our Grand Opening bathed in the flickering lights of our signature LEDs, delighted in the time-honored technical beauty of our paintings, and found themselves redefining the phrase “engaged viewer” with our interactive pieces.
Bringing “Silken Sad Uncertain” to life.
“The Primordial Piscean” delights guests with its playful animation and installation.
The focal talking point of our show, besides our techno-dreamy LED lights, turned out to be the naked sushi man who provided much entertainment, especially for the female attendees who seemed to gain a great appetite for sushi after a few champagnes… well who could blame them!
Thanks to all of you Liu Dao lovers, old and new, for making the island6 Marina Grand Opening just a smashing success! We’ll keep you updated on the happenings of our bustling new tropical space.
