We have been busy.
With Sin City in New York off the ground and running with the wind, the island6 art collective now turns its focus onto our upcoming shows: One in our beautiful, crazy home city of Shanghai – Ooh La La!, a solo show with Studio Rouge on the Bund; another at the gorgeous Opposite House in historic Beijing, with Red Gate Gallery. This means only one thing – new artworks!
Many curious pals have enquired about our creative processes. While we normally say, “If we tell you we’d have to kill you” (true, by the way, as the skeleton of an exposed spy that dangles from a metal cage in our office attests), the artists have imbibed a tad too much on this freezing wintry evening, and therefore are full of love. Obviously we are not too drunk to reveal that much, but here are some photos of our recent video shoot. In case you haven’t already figured it out, our LED animations are actual video footage courtesy of pro performers, thick-skinned visitors and enslaved workers.
This here is the lovely, talented Zhang Tian Yi, the porcelain-skinned Shanghai goddess and one of the fav muses of the art collective.
Inspiration comes through hot pics and hot music
Getting the girl into the right position
"You want me to do what?" (Tian Yi puts up with a lot.)
Keeping the peace and the balance
And that concludes this evening’s segment of pictorial revelations.
Keep an eye on this space, folks, there’s much more where these came from! We’ll be showing you the awesome artworks we made from this action-packed shoot.
xoxoxo
