Nocturne - a play by Adam Rapp - first time in HK

In Adam Rapp's highly acclaimed play , we join a 32-year-old former piano prodigy as he  recounts the tragic events that tore his family apart 15 years earlier.

With a keen eye for human relationships and a deft ear for language, Rapp explores the aftershock of a tragic  accident, of a  father incapable of forgiveness, of a mother shattered beyond sanity, of a

 son - only 17 years old at the time

 who escapes to New York City. There, he seeks an uneasy refuge in books and reinvents himself as a writer. Across the decade and a half that follows he contends with the ramifications of his own anguish and estrangement and maintains an endearing and powerful  search for hope and redemption.

In his farewell Hong Kong performance Paul Sheehan (The Pillow Man, Arturo Ui, 100 Saints) leads a stellar cast in this rich multimedia production. Projection, light, sound and even the set itself  become characters in service of this lyrical masterpiece.

Writer-director ADAM RAPP has been the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships for his plays, stories and novels. Nocturne received an Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding New Script, two Lincoln Center le Compte de Nuoy Awards, a fellowship to the Carnargo Foundation in Cassis, France, the 1999 Princess Grace Award for Playwriting and the 2001 Helen Merrill Award for Emerging Playwrightswww.urbtix.hk
