Just finished reading this amazing book. I always thought Patti Smith was a hard core rocker, drugs and all that but by reading her book she is quite the opposite of what I expected. I was amazed how gentle and sensitive her writing is. The first glimpse I had of her sensitivity was when reading her interview with Johnny Depp for Vanity Fair. I think in person Patti would be soft spoken and unassuming, I would love to meet her. I didn't want to book to end, I felt so part of the artists community that was thriving in NYC in the 70s. Hotel Chelsea was a hotbed of creativity. Here is the NYTimes book review:

Find it, read it, one of the most moving books I've read on what it takes to be an artist.
