Today I had the amazing chance to meet the Latvian prime minister at a lunch hosted by Roger King, the acting Latvian counsel general in HK. Afterwards, we all went to the premier of the film AMAYA which was shot here last year and in which I have a very small non-speaking role. Kaori Momoi, who played the lead role in the film was also here for the premier. She is a magnetic person, sparkly and full of life. Her role in the film was exactly opposite, so it was great to see her in person.
Maris Martinssons won best director for his film LOSS at last year's Shanghai Film Fest, which you will see in this clip, the trailer for the film, but sorry in the Latvian language. At least, you will have a feel for this very cool collaboration of HK and Latvian film makers. It was chosen as Latvia's submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards, but it didn't make the final shortlist.
