Keeping a normal workout routine while traveling is proving to be very difficult. OH is often outside climbing, hiking, riding a bike or doing something active. But, being active and doing a workout aren’t the same. I wanted to create a fun program that wasn’t devised on time, but would make me feel like I’ve had and anaerobic workout. A workout that incorporated exercise and site seeing.
So, when Tacfit instructor Diego Core called me to meet up with him, I knew that Bruce, Diego and I would need to do a Tourist core workout. In Shanghai we needed to pull so we did the Subway workout. In San Francisco we did Tacfit warrior. London needed an original workout. So, the three of us collectively made the London Core Team and did our London Core workout.
Exercises
Inverted Crunch outside a musical theater in Covent Garden. I had to do something with heights. If you’re at home I recommend doing this at a pull up bar.
Pole Plank is something we like to do when we are bored waiting at a bus stop. But you can lever yourself on the ground.
Butterfly is something you can work on with a partner and or wall. I highly recommend someone starts this with knees bent. Make sure your back is flat.
Crow is a move that is awesome for balance and core. Learn how to crow before you alternate legs.
L-sit Pull Ups are an exercise we do to strengthen pulls and really do a massive core burn. Obviously start with your knees bent.
The Jungle Gym is a fun little exercises that makes you feel like you are a kid. Don’t do this if you have weak shoulders and no control while spinning.
Windshield Wipers are fantastic for hanging control. This is very stressful to the spine if you don’t know how to keep yourself straight.
L-Sit Press is a swing move I learned in a parallet class with Coach Ryan Hurst. He breaks this down in his parallet bar seminar.
The Bike Crunch is something anyone can do. Really the hardest part of this one was staying back. Don’t try this unless you’re willing to bust your ass on the pavement.
Pistol Squat with a spinal rock is one of my favorite total body exercises. Obviously start with two feet and range of motion before you even try to do one leg.
Hanging Leg Lift is also another favorite of mine. Lots of different versions of this exercise can be done especially with bent knees.
The infamous Bat Hang is something rock climbers do to take a rest from the rock if they have a good toe hook. Bruce took it to a new level on the subway. Don’t try this one unless you’re willing to hit your head on the ground.
Lever is a move that Bruce took from pole dancing. Great workout if you get a chance.
The Human Flag is a move the three of us haven’t quite mastered but are working at it. This was our attempt to do it through London.
