Hilarious if not amazing Linkin Park story remembered!

I've just been chatting to my new buddy Charles from Fall in Line and he just reminded me of a really quirky story about Linkin Park that after laughing about I thought I had to share with everyone. Before I was a singer I loved Papa Roach, Nirvana, Linkin Park. your usual late 90's metal grunge bands that were really kicking off at that time.I'd only just got into alternative music a few years before (about the age of 13)So I remember my best friend Dean had just bought his first car. Out of all of us dumb kids he was the first to drive and the first to pass his test and get the SHITTEST Vauxhall Nova on the planet.So anyway he bought me tickets to go see Papa Roach and of course being 16 I was in total awe of them and a new band called Apartment 21 (RIP) who I also thought kicked total ass at the time.On the way back home from the show he whipped out his new shiny "LINKIN PARK: Hybrid Theory" album and put it in his shitty horrible CD player and we all started headbanging along like crazy in his car.He cannot sing for shit. but we started singing along to crawling.about 30 seconds into the song, he slows down the car, turns the music down and all the dudes looked at me in shock?I was like "what's wrong?" and Dean replied something like:"DUDE YOU SOUND JUST LIKE CHESTER LIKE THE SAME!!! MAYBE YOU SHOULD MAKE A BAND AND BECOME A SINGER!"and I was all like "Naaaaah!!!! Really??"and he was a like "FUCKING YES DUDE YOU CAN SCREAM LIKE CRAZY HOW DID YOU DO THAT??!!"And I was all like "I have no idea"AND HERE I AM!!!!seriously I think looking back it was my best friend Dean Bayley who pushed me into believing that I could sing back then.. looking back (no offence whatsoever to chester who is one of my favourite metal singers) I sang like total shit. I could only scream and my pitch of singing was totally terrible..I remember the feeling I had driving home that night.. it was something like "FUCKING YES I'M GONNA MAKE A METAL BAND AND BECOME FAMOUS OR SOMETHING... ERM YEAAAH!!"So about 10 bands later,a country or two toured... here I am in Hong Kong in a band I totally love.It's been a crazy 11 years of writing music, falling out with people. writing more music, changing styles, changing countries! to finally get to where I am since that day.So thanks to Dean for telling me all those years ago that I could sing the same as Chester from Linkin Park... It was about a week or so later he invited me to his band practice where their singer Tom passed me the mic and asked me to try out my screaming again..and I screamed my fucking head off... That was the night I discovered the power of the death metal scream. I still do not know to this day how to explain to people how to make a death metal scream. But that night by chance I found it and have been using it ever since.Anyway I'm dying right now from travelling over to macau from a party last night!Good night to everyone and thanks for all the votes we've been getting the past few days!Makes me believe in humanity and friendship all over again!Peace and Love and stuff..LiOh and RIP Michael Jackson again.
