G Stylin' : Canto-Pop 2

Tonight, I think we rocked it! For sure. The vibe backstage was dope. Andy Hui is really a home-boy fo sho. JBS set up a ping-pong table and everyone took part. So, dope. 24Herbs part with Fama and Charmaine Fong was off the hook. I hope they don't cut out my part, because it was English. I wish I can do Canto or Mando, but will take some time. At the moment, my level is Kindergarden so, might take some time before I rap Canto or Mando. peace!

When you become a huge star, be sure and introduce me to Anthony Wong Yiu Ming. I can't get enough of his music, his vibe, his nerdy weirdness. I'm not sure he even fits the rubric Cantopop anymore (if he ever did). If he'd been making music in the US in the 1980s, I bet he would have been at the Rhode Island School of Design and given Talking Heads a run for their money. (Now I've totally dated myself--yeah, I'm that old.)

Wah, rapping in a language that isn't native--tough, tough, tough. Especially since to rap you have to have a handle on not only the "official" language, but also all the street slang (that changes minute by minute and can also be very local). You have to be able to turn on a dime, shift gears and jump the tracks on the slightest whim. Hard in any language, doubly hard in a "learned" language. Good luck!
