Seeing DY's blog about his first attempt at riding... thought i'd put up some pics of my first ride too. :P
That is...my first "cross-border" ride up north from Singapore, through Malaysia, and up to Phuket in Thailand with my brother Frank
I started riding at 18 but never ventured further than Johor Bahru til early this year. i wouldn't have imagined it myself that for a first attempt, i'd cover 3000km there and back over 5 days.
Day 1:
my current ride, a 1996 Honda 'Steed' VSE 400. We set off early in the morning on 11 Jan 2008...
...stoppping every hour or so at Rest and Service Areas dotted along the North-South highway in Malaysia. Interestingly, it's either that or a serious lack of imagination, all the RSAs had green tiled roofs.
There's no chance of losing our way...
...cos it's just 1 endless stretch....
Day 2:
We covered about 1000km to reach Hatyai. But there's no time for sight seeing. Just some shots at the police post after breakfast...
...then we hit the road again... (Frank's ride's a Monster400)
...with regular stops for water and fuel.
Day 3:
We reach Phuket after another 500km
No time to enjoy the sun, sand and sea though... ...we've reached our intended destination... ...so it's time to head back...
...but we had time enough for a proper lunch at Krabi...
...before ending the day back in Hatyai.
Day 4:
Rest day. Went to a famous waterfall about 17km from the city
There's 6 or 7 levels to climb...
...but by the time we got to the 3rd level...
...we were both huffing and puffing...
...so we called it quits. But as you can see, it's pretty high up already.
Day 5:
6am. We cross the border once again at Sadao...
...with another 1000km to cover on the return leg back through Malaysia and into Singapore.
And in the end, what did i have to show for the past 5 days...
I\'m just a working actor doing what I love and loving what I do. ............................ Q: Will my time ever come? A: Yes...I have to believe it w
