1) First off, today I had the privilege to work with a veteran, actress CHENG PEI PEI, for the 2nd season of a local sitcom called "The Yang Sisters". She plays the role of the eldest of 3 sisters.
The scenes depict a film set with Pei Pei jie 'acting' as Wong Fei Hong and I'm Joe the stunt man, though there weren't any actual stunts...it's a sitcom afterall :P
We only had 1 scene together, in which she tries to hook me up with her 'daughter'. Off camera, she is really nice and friendly. Truth be told, I don't really know much about her or her acting career, except she's been acting way before my time and that alone is reason enough to warrant the respect of a 'young' actor like me. In fact, I wanna be just like her...I mean in terms of acting to a goodly age of 60+ ...and beyond.
Here's some pictures I took on set:
We shot at Fort Canning Hill, which used to be an old British fort during colonial days:
And this is me, in my 1-day-old haircut :p
All the stunt guys I know have short hair
2) After my scenes were done, I headed to the NYU Tisch Asia campus to sit-in for the 3rd time.
( Do refer to my early blog entry dated Tuesday, 29 Jan, 2008 )
Apart from the lesson proper, Rob (lecturer/Hollywood director) talked about the impending SAG ( Screen Actors' Guild) strike slated to begin on June 30, and how major studios would not start shooting movies after 31 March since it typically takes 3 months to finish a movie.
And it seems, even big-name-non-US actors would have to stop working for major movie studios come 30 June, so long as they've starred in major Hollywood movies (which meant they're already members of SAG).
I'm not entirely sure but it makes me wonder what kind of impact this SAG strike would have on
Asian stars like Jet Li, Zhang Ziyi, Jackie Chan...
3) Lastly, I attended a screening of 6 shortfilms . I'll post the excerpts of "Rice Bowl", the one I acted in, once the director sends me my copy on dvd.
Meanwhile, here's a picture to whet your appetite :P
You'll never guess the relationship of the 2 characters in this picture.... ;-)
I\'m just a working actor doing what I love and loving what I do. ............................ Q: Will my time ever come? A: Yes...I have to believe it w
