People, I should be working on my freelance assignment, but I just had to tell y'all...I love what I do. Freelance writing can really be tough sometimes, but Tuesday was fun. I sent John to the sitter for the first time in more than two months. Then I visited several businesses that I'm profiling for a "best of" guide here in Cincinnati. I took Roland with me. Usually, work and kiddos don't mix well, but in this case, everyone was just taken with him. I talked to a vintage clothing store owner and a yoga studio operator. The former told a funny story about Faye Dunaway, and the latter was the quintessential yogi. The studio "unfolded before her eyes" before she opened it, and several people she mentioned were "wonderfully spiritual people in this world." Really, a very nice lady, and beautiful studio, for which she gave me two free passes! Stress reduction. Yay.
I did not get to visit the two other businesses. A men's salon was closed, but I looked in the window at the designer interior. The website described a very chi-chi place--considering my dad was a construction worker, that was a little out of my comfort zone. I'm used to guys with a couple calluses on their hands : ). The specialty fabric store has a great website, so I can get what I need from there.
John is wonderful, and brings so much joy into my life, but it was SO NICE to know he was at the sitter, having a ball with the other kids. Before Roland was born, I worked a dinky office job, and I hated John being in childcare 5 days a week. But a two-year-old can be really trying, and it was so nice to have the whole day to work and not just naptime. A part-time career is so much better than a full-time hourly job that you don't really like. I'm hopin' and prayin' that the freelance work (and screenplay sale?) keep coming so I can keep doing this.
Sorry no photos....I need my own digital camera : (
