I know how to pick 'em....

...meaning, the perfect day for my first outing alone with both of my children. Yesterday was cool, but sunny and dry. Today, our Real Ohio Winter came back in full force. We're talking stinging snow. I learned how to drive in rural Kentucky. You should see the road between our farm and the state highway--a slalom course. So I'm not nervous about driving in the snow. But today, it was BAD. People skidding all over the place. At least I have a stick shift, which allows for a little more control.

John is two, and Roland is almost two weeks. So at the grocery store, John sat in the basket seat, and Roland stayed in his "baby bucket" ('cause those popout baby seats can feel like a bucket of cement when you're hauling one). We went to Bigg's (mass retailer...food and general merchandise in one), just four miles from my house. I was not ambitious--I passed up a food run, just wedging a few drugstore-type items next to the babies. John was pretty good....only begging for suckers once. Roland slept.

On the way out of the parking lot, a minivan came careening toward me. Oh, &*^&%. (But if my mother-in-law asks, John didn't learn that word from me.). I drove home even slower than I'd driven in. Jeremy was sent home from work early, and the radio told us that we're on "BLIZZARD WARNING." Eight to twelve inches by tomorrow evening. We ain't going anywhere, people. Another crazy Ohio Valley weather event, brought to you courtesy of the Gulf Stream colliding with cold air from Canada. See you when we dig out...
