I recently worked on a collaborative mural at Yew Wah International School in Yantai, China. Joining forces with Year 3, 4, & 5 students, we created a stylized garden of flowers (hehe, get it?) I enlisted the students to paint their own fantastical flowers on paper, while I painted my design of strange and kooky flower stems directly on the wall. Using a wheatpaste technique (or in this case, a mixture of PVA glue and water), the students had a blast gluing their paper flowers over top of my painted flower stems. Our finished collaboration definitely adds a bright shot of color to the grey school walls!
