Trash, Toys, Treasure

I thought it would be interesting to take my illustrative work and create something three-dimensional - like paintings in 3-D. One of the year levels at the school was studying a unit about toys, so the timing was perfect to create "sculptural toys", with my original idea in mind. Of course it's also quite nice that you can take something useless, like rubbish or waste material, and turn it into a beautiful object. I raided the DT department for scrap wood and waste materials, glued them together in interesting forms (or used the object in its original state), and painted my characters. I like that the various facets of the final piece render into an infinite number of "paintings" from any way you look at it.

Slightly addicted to art and all things eye-catching - a visual raccoon, if you will. I am originally from the United States, where I studied Illustration at the Savannah College of Art & Design. I moved to Hong Kong 3 years ago, and find the city such a huge inspiration for my work. I've continued to develop my illustration work over the course of my time here and hope to become more involved in the local art and illustration scene Look out - Ready to EXPLODE!
