I was so happy to receive all the input about my blog on "EMAIL".
That trigger me to write about something else...the "sense of touch". I remember when I was growing up, most of my toys were something that I could hold, or touch: like a doll, or some plastic kitchen utensils or a doctor's set...things that I need to use my hand to pick up and hold., things that I can touch. Now adays, popular toys for children are mostly video games on a play station. To me, that's like living life through some secondary experience - You see it, you participate by pressing buttons on a remote control. I wonder how that will affect the "participants" who are the young people of this generation. They are so engrossed with video games... will their sense of humanity and compassion be like "my generation"? When they grow up and become parents, will they be more logical and removed or will they still be able to have empathy for others or is that considered to be "silly emotion"? I probably will have no idea as I am not in their skin. Just very very curious, and concerned...
I look at the current trend of films that are big box office hit - most of the popular and well received ones are catered for the "younger generation" who love exaggerated sensationalism, explosions, shoot-them-ups, mass murders and blood and gore.. Perhaps it's "generation gap", perhaps I am too old fashioned... but I sure hope technology has not dumb down our senses so much that we can't relate to each other any more. That's a scary thought and will be a great loss!
