BACKGROUND

"singaporetheatre.com" was previously named, “The Singapore Theatre Guide”. The Singapore Theatre Guide was created in 1997 as a personal not for-profit website hosted on Geocities. It started off as a research and self study project. It gradually became an organized collective source and has been a reference point and online library for theatre-related materials and information for many institutions and academy worldwide.

singaporetheatre.com was featured in the Computer Times on April 1997, two weeks after the site went online. In 2001 it came in second under the Cross-Cultural category in the Visa and Business Online Asian Internet Award. In Mar 2003, the National Library Board of Singapore included the singaporetheatre.com as a link in their digital library that provides convenient access to resources to its users including educational institutions and researches.

The site was offered free web hosting sponsorship from Webvision since 1997. Till today the site resides on this server. The site has its own domain name singaporetheatre.com./ xspace-itemmessage
