And here we go the last stuff to do after the show is to show the paintings and say few words. So let's do it :“ME, MYSELF AND I”
SIZE 162 x 84 cm
MEDIA photography, synthetic paint, LED lighting
Every city has it’s structure made of buildings, lines and transportation surfaces. It’s a playground that is filled with life patterns. Where am I in all this game ? Do I live any trace behind ? I make my name XYZ blinking with LED light, trying to compete with banks and jewelry shops. I put my name between others because I feel like a part of this city. “IN & OUT”
SIZE 122 x 122 cm
MEDIA photography, synthetic paint, LED lighting
“Paint what you see and not what you know” used to say my painting master.
On this picture I saw big moving cubes, machines where people goes inside or get out. It creates flow similar to the heart beating. In and out, in and out and humans - machines, humans - machines. “FLOW”
SIZE 170 x 90 cm
MEDIA photography, synthetic paint, spray paint, coins
Walking in the morning to work I began to understand the movement of the city. This force that fill up buildings, streets and corridors. In one moment there is a multitudes of flows that pass through : cars, goods, information, (newspapers), money, blood... People are the reason as well as the matter of this perpetual flow.
SIZE 170 x 90 cm
MEDIA photography, synthetic paint, concrete
When you watch people going to work in the morning they all look like they are running to meet their lover; serious and confident that the life they have chosen is the right one. Painting such a scene in Central one morning at 9 am I asked do I BELIVE (IN) MY LIFE? It is a question to myself and to everyone walking in front of me; one that ponders on believing and living (in) your own life.“TIME”
SIZE 178 x 84 cm
MEDIA photography, synthetic paint, LED lighting
I’m obsessed with traces, something that imprints time.
Here I assign one color per moving object. When time passes, cars and humans are already far away but the traces of it presence remain melting with happenings that are coming.“BUSY ANGELS - X,Y,Z”
SIZE 128 x 84 cm each
MEDIA photography, synthetic paint, epoxy, spray paint
For this series of 3 paintings I shot photos in their negative form. The sky turns to black while people appear white, pure and not being here.
When “living the speed”, to follow Heidegger, humans disappear from the physical world. I wanted to speak about this absence using the metaphor of angels; a 21st century everyday’s life become a divine story. My signature also disappear spread between 3 different moments.“SAVOUR KINDNESS”
SIZE 135 x 84 cm
MEDIA photography, synthetic paint
I found this sentence of an American artist Jenny Holzer on a bag of a lady waiting for her shoes. “Savour kindness because cruelty is always possible later”.
There is a cruelty in the crowd flowing through the town. There is no attention regarding others - only MY goal, MY meetings, MY life. Being kind it’s the capacity to see others need. “I GO RIGHT”
SIZE 140 x 90 cm
MEDIA photography,
synthetic paint, spray, stencil
Now a days you don’t need to keep the same people around you, you don’t need to keep your job forever, you can change your point of view as much as you want. Life is finally your own choice. From the other hand being the decision maker of your world makes you unconfident and doubtful: Should I stay or should I go ? Am I going the right way ?“BALANCE IN CHAOS”
SIZE 158 x 84 cm
MEDIA photography, synthetic paint, epoxy, spray paint
Here I capture a man balancing on his bicycle behind a car on his way to Wanchai. Hong Kong requires flexibility and you have to master the skill of readiness. A moment here is never still, but rather about maintaining a status quo.“WATER AND FIRE”
SIZE 162 x 84 cm
MEDIA photography, synthetic paint, epoxy
The city expands over forests, mountains and even water. It is reminiscent of a fire that burns every surface. Again the borders have been shifted once more in the Victoria harbor with water replaced by yet more construction.“LOOKING BACK”
SIZE 162 x 84 cm
MEDIA photography, synthetic paint, epoxy
Two elderly men stand behind a balustrade look out at the ever expanding city. Nothing left to do but look and be looked back upon. That's all for this series !! Special thanks for Thomas Bouffioulx, my LED lighting teacher and helper.
Welcome to the art jungle !
