With the growth in demand for content on online platforms, the proposed changes to the Copyright Act aims to empower our creators to succeed in the digital age. Creators will now own the default copyright to the commissioned work, instead of the commissioning party. This helps them in negotiating more favourable contracts, and improves their opportunities for showcasing their body of work to potential clients and the public at large.
