The last day of 100% Design was hilarious. Freddy Balfour couldnt make it to moderate his panel so i valiantly offered to step in. I got up onto the stage and realized i knew very little about the panelists whom i was introducing-- including Lyndon's last name. All was well though, other than the fact that Joanne's big words led to a total breakdown of the translation... Love Lyndon's point about a new typology in architecture. CCTV = the new statue of liberty?? What would Daniel Liebskind say to that? Richard Hsu's UNO/ENO? brand is lovely but totally out of touch with the people. brands need to be in touch with the community or the culture--that's how that have traction... The show ended with a beautiful dinner at 1933. Pictures will be in iLook Sept Issue, along with my commentary of the fair... We ended the night at Shanghai Surprise, a gay bar/club in a bomb shelter with a underwear store attached. Alan showed up at like 2 with Lyndon and Rosanna. LYNDON AND ROSANNA???? Their daughter calls me "the funny woman." 9 and obsessed with manicures, i figure that i warrant a special name is beyond cool... Lyndon (Neri) is super cool though actually. As is Jia Hotel in Shanghai... AMAZING COOKIES. But no skim milk. (Double Decaf Non-Fat Cappuccino?)
Oh- I love Tom Scott he is awesome. He and Qiu Hao are both in the Woolmark awards this week.
Just read that BBC is online in China. Totally dont think this is a big deal given that NYT has been up forever. But I guess if you are british it is a big deal...
I wanna bring Tobi and Aric's pop up to HK. New project.
