Hello, everyone. I’m sorry for being so out of touch lately and for not responding to those of you who have left comments and/or questions on my page, but I’ve been extremely busy during the past week or so.
As some of you know, I recently returned to Hong Kong, in order to take some meetings – and to officially commence my search for a local line producer for “Jasmine.” Stratton Leopold, my L.A.-based producer, and I have been reaching out to our contacts in Hong Kong and Beijing and, thus far, the response has exceeded our ...Read more
All right, so… Technically, I should be working on the third draft of “Jasmine,” but I saw a great little film last night, it’s been on my mind all day, and I’m hoping that, if I write a few words about it here, then maybe I can return to “Jasmine” with a clear head.
I don’t know how many of you have heard about John Carney’s recent film, “Once.” Truthfully, I didn’t even know the film existed until I read somewhere last week that Steven Spielberg said that it had enough inspiration in it to last him a year. ...Read more
Hey, guys. Long time, no blog. I couldn’t tell you when I wrote my last blog, if it wasn’t for the time stamp on it. Apparently, I wrote the last installment of the ongoing “Jasmine” saga on July 8th, 2007. My 32nd birthday. 21 days ago. The last few weeks have been quite a marathon, to say the least. You see, I unofficially set July 31st as the deadline for the second draft of the scrīpt. And, although that deadline seemed like a bit of a pipe dream a week ago, I’m now happy to report that, after settling i...Read more
It’s time for another blog, I suppose… Man, a lot’s been happening since I wrote the last one. As many of you already know, I’ve been working on the second draft of “Jasmine,” which has been keeping me extremely busy. (I’m on page 47 now, for those of you still counting.) My mom and grandma were supposed to come visit me this past Tuesday and stay with me for a week, but my grandma fell ill and has been in the hospital, so the trip had to be postponed. (If any of you want to send some positive thoughts her way, I’d...Read more
To those of you checking in from around the world, I apologize for the delay of the second installment. However, fortunately, I’ve got a slew of good excuses. First, I’ve been writing the second draft of “Jasmine,” which is always a good excuse. (I’m on page 23, in case anybody’s counting.) Second, I’ve been developing a new action/drama with an actor/producer, who stars on a hit TV show here in the U.S. and is now looking to make his crossover into features. (It’s a great idea and we’ve really been taking our time, “method w...Read more
Lately, it seems that everyone, either here in L.A., or over in Hong Kong, or somewhere out there in cyberspace, has been asking me who or what is “Jasmine.” So, I thought that I’d dedicate my first real Alive Not Dead blog to officially answering this recurring question, in the hope that it might confirm a few rumors, dispel a few myths, and shed some light on what I’ve been up to for the past year or so. However, to really tell the story of how “Jasmine” began, we have to go back even further, all the way to August ...Read more
As some of you may or may not know, I’ve been in Hong Kong for the past month or so, crashing in Mongkok and working on the screenplay for my upcoming directorial debut, “Jasmine,” with Jason Tobin (“Better Luck Tomorrow”), my friend, pimp, cabana boy, translator, co-creator, and lead actor. It’s been a very productive trip and, like past trips, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet a lot of cool new people, including the creators of AliveNotDead.com, who suggested that I join their new site. Thanks, g...Read more
