I just arrived from Vancouver a couple of days ago. It was a productive time with a few auditions , lots of networking and some catching up. I attended a screening for a collection of great short films at the Vancouver International Film Festival. I mainly went in support of a short titled "Suffer"which was produced, directed and starred by many of my stunt and actor friends in the community. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rov95uyE22IIt's been a tough year for them having lost many productions to Toronto because of the lack of competitive tax incentives for Hollywood Productions. Also with the Province of British Columbia voting out the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax), which is to be phased out in the next 16 months, is another blow to the industry as well. But on the positive side it was nice to see that they have been keeping busy with their own projects and creating work for themselves. The cast consisted of Ryan Robbins (Mortal Kombat Legacy / Sanctuary) , Darryl Quon (Dragon Boys, Case 39, Night At The Museum), Fraser Aitcheson(Mortal Kombat Legacy, Xmen The Last Stand), Crystal Lowe and Grace Baek. It was screened to a full house. The after party gave me a chance to catch up with many peeps.Director: Kimani Ray Smith/ Producer Robert Mitchell , Aaron Au / Actor Darryl Quon Fraser Aitcheson, Myself & Kimani Ray SmithLogan Stunt Double Dan Pelchat, Myself, Ryan Robbins & Darryl Quon Myself with Grace Baek with BF Baird. It's a fantastic short film with great action and drama.
