Human Right and Common Sense? (Not a politically debate)

Human Right or Common Sense?  (Not a politically debate)

Has anyone give any thought to the human right issue?  What the hell is it? Who set this standard up?

This politically correct word has been ringing around for quite sometime. The first I got to know it was some 30 or so years ago, as I was still at school at the time. I remember that when we being naughty, our corporal punishment then was detention, canning or a slap around the ear lug. Discipline amongst all children were great, as even the police was able to do similar to what our teachers do in our school, and our society then was nice and calm.

Then it suddenly it all got changed, as after England joined the European Community and all hell broke loose. I clearly remember when the human right act was introduced and no corporal punishment was allowed at school, all the kids were almost suddenly lost all respect for teachers. In the street, police lost their dignity as a tiger loosing its teeth.

(One of my most respected history teacher subsequently was so disappointed and disillusioned with the behaviour’s of the children at the time, end up committed suicide a couple of years I left school, as that was what he told me on my last visit to him.)

Did I favour corporal punishment, I believe it was better with it then without, as the human race at present is not spiritually advanced enough to self govern. But in my opinion, it is far better than human right, which took the common sense out of the society. We are now having literally do things by black and white, laws that has been drafted to the best intentions (I hope) to iron out abuse of power. In all the best of means, there are no way rules can replace our common sense.

Everything has a flip side, and nothing ever is just black or white, negative and positive. There are all the grey in between the two extreme ends, how is it possible that any can be drafted against that.

The result is now lots of people believe the human right is good and are jumping on the bandwagon to bash countries that supposedly have a ‘bad’ record. They all wanted to be seen to be ‘politically correct’, but without looking into this issue seriously.

The biggest trouble is the very people or country that drafted these laws, are also very much contradicts on all their arms and human right policies. They supply arms for others to fight, they only help countries that belief in their political views, or if their country has resources which they in turn can pillage in return for their help.

How can ‘Human Right’ law be effective when it is run with people or country that has a double standard?

No mention of different country, race or culture needs a different approach or believe, because each have their own history that are so deeply ingrained in their minds, it will take a long time to change.

Never mind that this ‘IMPOSED’ ‘RIGHT’ is only right for people who thinks their belief is the standard set for the rest of the humanity. Anyone or everyone who disagree with their view is ‘WRONG’.

I am not debating a political issue, but a spiritual one, what I’m saying here is to ask for love and patience, understanding and compassion between our differences. It is not one ideal against another, east against west, or one belief against another.

I’m asking for us all to ask questions about what we read (including what I write here), and give it time to think about its origin and its truest meaning or agenda behind them before we make a decision or judgement.

The world is in constant conflict and war is because our minds are not open enough, we all been thinking too selfishly for our own belief, race or creed, plus very few people were told that we are all responsible for the mess the world we are in today.

It is all too easy to look at anything with a simple face value and not go any deeper before making even a comment. We are all responsible for everything we do and action we make or take.

So for our own sake, please take time and go through all that we learn and when we get told what is ‘RIGHT’ and ‘WRONG’, exercise our minds and give it a good going through before we make drastic decisions or actions. As in the very end, we are all end up at the receiving end.

Earth is the our only HOME, so we must treat it will utmost love and respect.

Love and Peace

About the strong abusing the weak: as you say, in the end, we all end up on the receiving end. In other words, we reap what we sow. Whether it is adults using violence against children or strong countries strong-arming weaker countries into following a certain course of action, it is the strong abusing the weak. Things can change overnight, with those who were weak now being strong, and those who were strong now depending on the weak for their very existence. For any parent who decides to use physical or psychological violence against their children, remember that your children will be the ones taking care of you in your old age, when you are too weak to take care of yourself. If your children's memories are of an abusive parent, the best that parent can hope for in old age is indifference from their children. Otherwise, one would expect them to receive what they meted out on those too weak to protect themselves all those years ago. The way of life is that our parents are our first teachers. They are the ones who establish our sense of the world and one's place in that world. For many people, what they learned from their parents is the basis of who they become as adults. So many things in the world would be better if parents were better at their job. If world leaders had had more positive role models in their parents, would the world be as screwed up as it appears to be today? I wonder.

As much as we can put all the blame to all our parents, it is also our duty or ideal to break the chain. Once we accepted that we are all responsible, then it is our goal to share and to remind ourselves others not to repeat our previous mistakes. This is the positive action of the NOW.

StarKiss, you can only choose something if you know it exists. How can a child, who has known only abusive treatment, treat someone in a way they don't even know exists? Sometimes you have to move away from home before you discover how totally wacked your home environment was growing up. At that point, when you see there is another way, then you can choose something different, but before that, how could you choose a different way to treat others?

The issue we talked about here is a karmic pre-conditioning, once the karma or effect of the cause is cleared, we then be able to rise above it. Pain is one of the most necessary path we all must take on the spiritual journey.

StarKiss, I speak from personal experience and also from having worked for a preschool mental health program for 10 years. We treat children who have social and emotional problems, which includes, sadly, in its most serious cases, psychological and physical abuse. We also have far too many cases of sexual abuse, including children as young as 2 and 3 being used for internet pornography. Danny, where does that most basic Buddhist concept of compassion fit into this discussion?

The concept here is not a special product of Buddhism, but also a key concept from spiritualism. If we only keep our focus or vision at a close distance, we will sure to miss the bigger picture. You may have plenty of doubt with mankind or Buddhism. Do you ever doubt compassion of God or the Greater consciousness? That God allowed all the suffering that happened on earth? I know my words here are not enough to calm your rage of disappointment that your life’s experience has given you. All I can say is one day you will truly understand why things happen the way they do. In the eyes of a normal person, death and suffering is the most horrifying experience to endure, but in the eyes of God, death means freedom for the caged soul/spirit.

Well, Danny, I have to say based on the experiences of my life, the way we know compassion in the world is through the compassion of other human-beings (and sometimes animals). We are the agency of compassion on this earth, whatever its ultimate source. If compassion is to be present on this planet and active in the lives of others, it is because we have acted compassionately towards others. I frankly don't believe in a personal god looking down on the world like it is some diorama he created, moving the objects around like the earth is some sort of giant doll house. We have a huge responsibility as human-beings to manifest all good things through our thoughts, feelings and actions. It is how we act that brings heaven or hell to this earth. I used to believe in more concrete concepts of god and ideas about spiritual systems, but based on what has happened to me in this life, I had to surrender those concepts as too limited and limiting. Now what matters is how I am being and doing, especially in my interactions with the world around me, including the planet and its inhabitants (human and animal). I'm pretty new at seeing the world in this way, so perhaps I'm not so good at it yet. I muddle through the best I can, moment by moment, knowing whatever bigger picture I create, it will always be too small to hold the reality of life. So I try not to be too overly attached to any mental concepts of what the world is, what god is, etc. Ideally, if I can focus on the present moment and clarifying right being and right action, moment by moment, the rest should take care of itself. I believe in a spiritual aspect to the world, but am also quite clear that there is so much about the so-called physical world that we don't understand (dark matter, dark energy, etc.) that I try not to get too hung up on dividing things in matter and spirit. It is all a continuum, anyway, with matter and spirit truly sharing many characteristics, just manifesting them in different ways. It all boils down to vibration--matter is denser and this gives it its characteristic vibration, and what some call spirit is less dense and vibrates in a different way. So what if matter and spirit were composed of exactly the same substance, just manifesting different qualities? It is ideas like these (that I did not originate, they originated with some great souls who were/are in much closer harmony with what is than I am, and who give themselves over to service to the world) that keep me from getting too comfortable with pat concepts. Mental concepts can limit us every bit as much as they can free us. Hopefully, some of this makes sense to you. It is not always easy to communicate these things through words alone. Face-to-face is much easier. Many things can be communicated at the heart/vibrational level that escape being captured in words. The most profound experience I ever had with my teacher was just sitting in his presence for 10 minutes in total silence, experiencing the incredible vibration of this compassionate and wise being who has dedicated himself to serving all souls. I never felt so loved, so accepted, so cared for in my entire life. Not a single word was spoken, not a single glance was exchanged, everything occurred at the level of vibration, and yet it was the most complete and intimate communication I have ever had with another being in my life.

Dear Marie, Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. It is indeed the responsibility that I have always referred to here. Not only we are responsible for others, ultimately if more people are responsible for their own action, the less we need to work or worry because there will be fewer people going to suffer their own fate, which in turn requires less sympathy and charity from others. If we can work at the root of all problems that cause all suffering, and that is our basic human behaviour. Compassion is absolutely necessary, but wisdom and knowledge is just as important if not more. The more people understand about the law of cause and effect, the more positive action by all would have a greater benefit for our society. It is fine if you don’t believing in a God or a greater consciousness, but this world and this universe do operates on a basic law and not purely by chance and chaos. In order for all of us to read and write, we all have to attend schools to learn letters and alphabet, and then we can use what we learn to communicate. It would be the same for us to grow spiritually, we must learn the basic of spirituality, and this is the law of cause and effect. I don’t doubt there is plenty of people can communicate by vibration or by telepathy, but the norm is that lots people only knows that they are just a physical body with a limited awareness of the self, let alone that we are a spirit encase in a body, or we are only part of an expression of a group that belongs to a soul. My compassion is first to remind all our basic guide and principle, and that is the responsibility of our own actions. Love and peace Danny
