As most of you all know, I got to work on the Dark Knight last summer for the last 7 days of shooting here in Chicago. It was an amzaing experience that still feels surreal or like a dream to this day. I get crazy flashbacks when I am downtown and walk by an area we shot at.
Anyway with any film tons and tons of footage is shot and some of it never will be used. This could be alternat takes or even extra scenes that don't pan out when the director is editing it. Dark Knight had many of those that after I saw the finished film, some of it would be continuity errors. My book will have some focus on this in the third arc but from time to time I will blog about them. Its cooler on here cause I can add pics of videos I find to support it that I can't do in a book. Without further ado, heres on of the parts we shot that people watching filmed.
ALLEYWAY SHOOT OUT
The scene takes place after the assasination attempt after the police funeral. Bruce Wayne freed the captured honor guard. The Joker retreats to the aprartment where they were tied up and gets into a huge fight with one of the fake Batmen. The police closed off the alley and were trying to keep the crowd gathered under control when shots ring out again.
My buddy Rory captued that. During the shoot I had to walk along the gate and try to calm down a city Alderman that was trying to push past the gate. I threaten to arrest him and he threatens to get me fired. Our arguing gets pretty heated and BANG!! BANG!! BANG!! I had to shield him and get the others to safety behind the police cars. Then me and several officers pull open the gate and charge in and get into a shoot out with the remaining Joker goons dressed as cops.
Then the scene would cut to the part where Dent hops in the ambulance and drives off with the captured Joker goon.
Sometimes I wonder why they go through all the trouble of setting this stuff up and not use it.
