An article came out in the Oriental Daily Yesterday about me and Stephen Fung. It is part of a 5 day exclusive on me by the publication. I did a sit down interview with the reporter which I felt went quite well. Unfortunately editors in charge decided it wasn't sensational enough so they decided to make up a headline to get a buzz. The headline basically said Stephen and I are not getting along and that I don't support Stephen Fung making Tai Chi, our first film from our company Diversion Pictures. Now this is not my first day in the business and this is certainly not my first beef with the media but this is the first time that it affects something that is more than personal. Diversion Pictures is part of Hua Yi Brothers which is a publicly listed company. When you make false rumors like that you affect the way a business is run. The headline somehow then spread across mainland Chinese media very quickly and now I'm dealing with unhappy executives. I wish these editors would grow up a little and be more responsible about what they write. Stephen and I are more than fine, we wouldn't be partners in a film company if we didn't get along. In fact I just spent four days on set helping out as much I could as the film's executive producer. Everything is fine. Newspaper editors are dumb.
