It's never safe out there in the world of music unless someone's got Uranus covered!
The world's favourite intergallatic rock band is back on stage this Friday night, rocking it out in the name of charity.
Come down to the Melting Pot at No. 1-5 Elgin St. throw some money at the AmCham people on the door and be treated to three bands for three hours and an open bar. That's right - as much as you can drink for a paltry sum of money (about 300 bucks I think) which ends up in the hands of local charities.
What better way to treat yourself and Uranus?
The band has been priming itself for this gig, with new songs written by guitarist Ed Bean and singer William Pfeiffer. Well, most of the band has been priming itself. I've been swanning around the UK for the past week pretending to be working (see the blog below about Wimbledon).
As usual, I've done absolutely zero to contribute to this gig. In fact, I'm told we are performing a tribute piece to Michael Jackson. I don't know any Michael Bloody Jackson. In fact, I don't know pop music full stop. Does that mean I have to practice?
I'm also told they want to try out a song by the Police called Be My Girl, which is about a blow up sex doll. Now, I'm not too sure about having a sex doll in Uranus, but if it's for charity...
So, it seems we've gone from doing only originals to performing selected cover songs. I best get to rehearsing then. MJ, this next one is for you buddy. I wouldn't do it for anyone else. Well, except for charity that is.
See you there.
