The House Of Dancing Water - making of.

Ocean Vista Films has produced a tv commercial for the highly acclaimed stage show The House Of Dancing Water.

The show cost US$250million, is hosted by the City Of Dreams and is produced by Franco Dragone, the man who brought to life many Cirque du Soleil shows.

The task we were presented with was to come up with two 15 second tv commercials in only three weeks before opening night. This meant that costumes were not yet ready, limiting what we could actually shoot; and we could only shoot certain scenes at certain times over a period of  two days during production.

 I decided the only way to go was to shoot ultra high speed dance and water sequences and combine them with some elements of the show that gave a hint of the story.

A team of 20 people worked solidly for two days during the production, which included transporting 1.5 tons of equipment to Macau and then rigging it around the show production without interrupting the show itself. As some of the show props failed during our filming we had to reconstruct the look of some elements of the show in post production.

It then took two days of offline post production and a week of online to finish the graphics. I also composed the music as a guide track to the editors for the music that we had planned to use for the tvc, but the client preferred the guide track and that was ultimately used instead.
