Sting "Fragile"

There are a few songs/pieces of music that in my life that I listen over and over again whenever I need to indulge myself in the melancholy. There's nothing sad about my life (seriously). But I am strangely attracted to this state of mind. It's the time when I dive in to create the world of quiet romance, the abstract of the unspoken sensation...

It's over the 30th times that I listen to this song in this stormy afternoon and it will go on go...

C.

Sting "Fragile"

If blood will flow when fresh and steel are one

Drying in the colour of the evening sun

Tomorrows rain will wash the stains away

But something in our minds will always stay

Perhaps this final act was meant

To clinch a lifetimes argument

That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could

For all those born beneath an angry star

Lest we forget how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall

Like tears from a star like tears from a star

On and on the rain will say

How fragile we are how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall

Like tears from a star like tears from a star

On and on the rain will say

How fragile we are how fragile we are

How fragile we are how fragile we are

You don't have to explain the draw of music that resonates with deep, melancholy emotion. The Iberian peninsula has a long tradition of such music--in southern Spain they call it "cante jondo" and in Portugal they call if "fado". Life is full of light and shade, the joy and the tragedy of living. While we are drawn to the light, it is the mixture of light and shadow that allows us to distinguish the world around us. Without sadness, how would we recognize joy?
