What an INSPIRATIONAL DAY!
On the panel at NCS surrounded by greatness (Henry Robinett, Joe GIlman, Dan Kennedy & Kerry Marsh)!
This day was so amazing I had to let them know how much this meant to me….
To the Students and Teachers at Natomas Charter Performing & Fine Arts Academy:
Thank you so much for inviting me to participate at your career day. It was a very emotional and moving day for me. Throughout junior high and high school I suffered from depression and struggled constantly just to make it through the day. My dreams of playing professional basketball faded away when I had surgery on my knee and my life took an unexpected turn. Coming to Natomas Charter changed my life and guided me in a new direction by using art to express myself but I was still faced with the challenges of being a teenager and would beat myself up for not being good enough at what I wanted to accomplish because of my daily battles.
When I stepped on stage after not being on campus for 6 yrs and heard the crowd erupt, I had to fight back tears because this was the very place where I had been so down and now after living life and learning ways to deal with things and finding inner peace (still searching though!) I was back where I had created this dream and was invited to inspire kids who are going through the same things that I did. Seeing the smiles on the teachers faces when they greeted me backstage made me feel so good because they knew what I had been through in high school and were always very supportive back then and still today.
Being in the presence of you all was incredibly inspirational. You are a reminder to keep living my dreams and keep pushing on even when the road gets rough. I will never forget this day and how it has affected my life and attitude.
Thank You.
Love,
Butterscotch
