Hello everyone, my name is Brandon Ricks.

Past Experiences

Back in America, I created Hip-Hop music from 2007-2013. My brother and I formed a Hip-Hop duo group and started to create songs, a friend coined the name “SwAGG!T” for us, saying that our music had a lot of style/swag. With our new name, we began working on our first project “The Wake Up” which was released in 2010, among its release we gained a local buzz in our neighborhood and other surrounding areas. We continued to make songs and promote our music and we caught the eye of an independent music label which we signed a promotional deal to help us push our music to even more people. We released our first album “Freshman Year” in 2011. We released more projects including “Feel the Dreams”, “From the Basement”, “Hawaiian Airlines” and “Food for you” and also many singles on our own after our promotional deal was over the year afterwards in 2012.

We started performing live music around Baltimore and Washington D.C. in small clubs in 2011 and soon after we started to perform in bigger venues around Philadelphia, New York and California. During this time, we were also being sponsored by three upcoming clothing brands, High Clothing Worldwide, Icky Clothing and Mile High Clothing. We were also feature on a few music blog sites and also featured in a magazine.

I taught myself video, audio and photo editing while we continued to make music throughout the years.

Current: Later, I moved to China to become an English teacher. I’ve worked in schools in Kunshan and Shenzhen, teaching both group classes as well as one on one classes. A friend and I also opened a school and created video voice-overs of Disney story books for our students to listen and study from.

Before my teaching career in China I studied psychology and video editing in a local college in Maryland.

In addition to my career in music and teaching, I also love acting and screenplay/ script writing. I have been featured in many episodes of an online show by the name of 嘿老外 Hei Laowai (Hey, Foreigner). In the show, the host meets foreigners from all over the world living in China and they go on wacky adventures to try new foods, play pranks on strangers and even challenge each other to different competitions (like beating world records or try not to laugh challenges). I would have to say my current interest would be focusing on becoming an actor, I will start with small roles and work myself up to bigger and better roles. And I will also keep writing scripts and screenplays.
