At the Chez Brewer
For the home of the wealthy Brewer clan, producer Peggy Lee found this amazing house that has never before be seen on film. I just wish I could afford to live in such a place in real life the way my screen character could. However, he's dead and I'm alive, so, as my late father used to say, they round and they bounce...
Still, it is kind of weird to walk around the place and see photos of my 'late' self...
As some of you may know, my nickname in the martial arts world was Bey The Beast, which made this particular bit of decoration quite startling:
Our bai san seems to have paid off: we had glorious weather for our exterior shots, it rained only after we moved indoors! The atmosphere of the place was very warm, it has a sympathetic aura that made shooting there a real pleasure, especially as I got to hang out with 'my' kids. Law Jung-him, who is just such a fine actor and person, and has a great career in front of him.
And also the Terrible Two : Jessica and Phoenix. Its really such a burden to come to work with them every day...
One of my greatest experiences on the film has been getting to know Lo Mang, who you'll all remember as Toad in Five Deadly Venoms (out now on Dragon Dynasty!), and from dozens more kung fu classics. He is such a great guy, perfect for his role and full of stories of martial arts movie-making of yesteryear.
Lo also bears a striking resemblance to our director, Tony Tang. Could there be a connection? Tony does animation, Lo Mang is very animated... Hmmm...
Undeterred by the rain, we wrapped on schedule. Truly, a memorable experience to shoot in such a great house with such a good team.
