A visit from a deadly director from Down Under
As we hack and slash forward with our prep on 'Snowblade', its been a pleasure to have New Zealand born Chinese lady director Roseanne Liang helping out. As part of an exchange programme with the NZ Film Commission, we got Roseanne. God knows what we sent to them. Maybe they were afraid to open the box!
Roseanne took some fun shots of some days in the life of... me! Here I am getting my kicks with the Snowblade girls.
And generally looking officious!
I never realised how serious I look! (Probably wandering where I left my Blackberry...)
Here is the usual tangle of arms and legs as we work out who kicks who when and where...
Here's Roseanne, second from the left, with Kaoru, Mak Chi-kong Sifu, Sable Yu and myself.
Roseanne has already directed a film, My Wedding And Other Secrets, which is playing in festivals in Melbourne and New York. It co-stars Hong Kong veterans Kenneth Tsang and Cheng Pei Pei. She's actually directed one more movie than I have, which is why I was turning to her for advice!
She was a great help when we went to shoot footage for the 'Bruce Lee Lives' documentary at the graveyard where Lee's character payes respect to his sister and his mother in 'Enter the Dragon'. Here's she and me with ace cameraman Ben Poon...
And she was on hand when I was interviewed by a Polish crew for a multimedia Bruce Lee theatre show.
Roseanne's all too brief visit ended with a party at a local Aussie restaurant (see photo of B, R and E at the top of the page), but we hope we see her here soon to direct her first action film!
