Slumdog is so overrated

Alright, I'm sick of reading about Slumdog Millionaire's kids, their deadbeat parents, or whatever else ish happening to them in the news.

Why is it important? Not that I think their situation is a laughing matter, but why write about them? Because they starred in the movie? There are kids in China or Compton in just as bad shape, no? (DON'T BE A MENACE TO SOUTH CENTRAL WHILE DRINKING YOUR JUICE IN THE HOOD)

Slumdog Millionaire is so overrated it's getting annoying. I said it was overrated from the get go, when the movie was getting flawless reviews everywhere. I was annoyed that it swept/dominated the Oscars--no other film really had a shot for Best Picture, and I don't know why people tried to make it out to be more than what it was--a simple rags to riches feel-good story that's been done countless times before. Yes, Danny Boyle had good vision, yes the cinematography was beautiful, but come on.

Frost/Nixon is a superior movie. You try making a film adaptation of a stage play, one that takes place in like 4 rooms, and make it into a film as compelling as Frost/Nixon. Verbal boxing match ending, with the "I'm saying when the President does it, that means it's not illegal" as the finisher. thumbs up

The Oscars are a joke these days. Sean Penn beating Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler? I just watched The Wrestler again two weeks ago and Rouke's performance is in the pantheon.

Frost/Nixon is one of the more under-appreciated films in years. Almost as under-appreciated as Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey (that movie is fucking brilliant man, watch it again. check that temporal paradox at the end. At first you wanan dismiss it as not making sense, mo lei tau like a Stephen Chow flick, but then when you read deeper into the paradox, not only does it all make sense, it chains everything together!!!!!!!)

Keanu Reeves was so rad in this too.

This Magic team is a joke. Possibly the worse team to make it to the Finals since 2002 Nets. Kobe senses blood, he will murder these guys and take his Finals MVP.

Since Transformers 2 is gonna suck ass, there are no more big summer films I'm looking forward to (what a pathetic summer for blockbusters). I am looking forward to Sunshine Cleaning though. A tale of two sisters who clean up crime scenes for a living. Amy Adams is in it and she's just...wow.
