Scorsese

Saw GI Joe screening tonight. Ironically, the distributors in the states refused to run a screening (usually a sign for bad movies) but in HK they had thus huge screening at Star Hall (where they hold concerts). It was the biggest screening I've ever attended. Movie is surprisingly not bad. Best part is Joseph Gordon Levitt and Brendan Frasier have small roles in it. Brendan Frasier is unintentional comedy gold like Nic Cage so seeing his mug made me crack up. JGL is my boy, we're the same age and I've watched him as a kid in Angels in the Outfield, as a teen in 3rd Rock from the Sun, 10 Things I Hate About You is a teen classic (a modern remake of The Taming of the Shrew) and he played Eric Forman's homo friend in That 70s Show. Now he stars in my most anticipated film this summer.

Before the movie we saw a trailer to Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island. It's interesting only because it's totally unlike anything Scorsese has done--a horror flick. Other then that, it looked no different than the other horror flick trailer that ran before it (some movie wiht Renee Zellweger. When I first saw her I thought "oh another romantic comedy" but then Bradley Cooper gets eaten alive by bees the very next scene in the trailer)

Speaking of Scorsese, I recently wrote into Timeout Hong Kong in response to a reader mail they got. To make a long story short, I thought that reader made a silly comment about Martin Scorsese and his films and I had to put him in his place.

They actually ran my letter. It's in this issue's Timeout. HA.
