Just a few notes
-Had a very eventful valentines day. Met Hanjin, who is one of the few, and THE ROCK MEANS FEW, "musicians" in HK I respect because dude actually produce, write, and play his own music. Of course, he still remembers Anita from the interview she did with him over a year ago, and she will remember Sharyn (who was my photographer for the day), but he wont remember who I am within an hour of the interview. Sigh, thats how it works in this world.
I just quoted The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson, aka THE MOST ELECTRIFYING MAN IN SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT, in my above bit because THE ROCK IS COMING TO HONG KONG. I got an email from Intercontinental Films that he'll be here on Wed doing promotions. I don't think I'll get a one on one interview, but I will get to talk to him with other medias in a group. This will result in two things. First, I will be angry at the local media for asking silly ass questions (like when we had the group interview with Allan Houston and this Mainland chick from ESPN damn near made me snap because of her complete and utter lack of knowledge on the NBA. What the fuck was she doing wasting Allan Houston's time? The man was once on the court with MICHAEL FUCKING JORDAN. And she works for ESPN how? Because she a cute chick. Sigh shallow industry). Anyway, I've gotten off topic. The second thing is I will quote the Rock during the press event and hopefully he'll hear it, and realize "hey this guy actually knows about my history",and ignore all those silly "how do u like hong kong, will you be shopping?" questions from the local reporters. Ideally, he'll pull me aside and we'll talk about what he was thinking the night of the Montreal Screwjob, who was bigger, him and Austin, and the question EVERYBODY WANTS TO KNOW: was Marty Jannety thrown out or superkicked out the barbershop window???
The Rock coming is just one of many, many good news that's hit lately. In addition to that, I just found out last week that Blink is reuniting and Green Day has a new album out WITH huge press event in LA. If I can provide my own ticket to LA, Vinnie from Warners can get me in and possibly talk to Green Day. And on top of that, it's rumored that BLINK WILL TOUR WITH GREEN DAY. Which reminds me of 2001's The Pop Disaster Tour (Green Day, Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World together). Which to this day, is still one of best shows I've ever seen and one of the best nights of my life.
Kevin Durant isjust amazing. Dude has been averaging 29 and 8 on 48% shooting, 90% FT shooting, and 40% from three point line the past 8 weeks. You know what stings? I drafted him early in my fantasy draft because I expected him to blow up like this. But after he struggled for the first 6 weeks i got fed up and traded him to my gay friend Cyrus Lo for Brandon Roy. Now Durant is playing better than Brandon Roy by far. Now i watch him go for 29 a night on smooth 25 footers. Drop 46 in the rookie/sophmore game. And hit 40 footers like free throws in the HORSE event. Oh my god... worse trade I ever made in Fantasy NBA....
I was planning on coming back to LA for work but backed out at the end because I couldn't find cheap tickets. I figured all i was missing was the work job. But then I just found out that this week was Conan's last week on Late Night. He'll be moving onto The Tonight Show in June...and somehow, I think Conan will tone down his antics a bit and go more "mainstream". Meaning Latenight will be the lat time we see "Conan". As if this wasn't enough... THE WHITE STRIPES will close out the final show.
How fitting is that? Jack White closing out Conan? I wish I was there to watch this...
