3/29 8:30 to 9:30...Earth Hour.
The idea was to turn off all the lights during the hour to save energy.
I was skeptical about HK doing this, cause you know... it's HK. If it was some hippie area like I dunno, freaking Berkeley, California, then sure, it'd be pitch black. But HK, Honestly? Naw I didn't think so.
But I was wrong. Most of the lights were off by the harbor, except for two companies.
Sanyo and Gome.
Now I know the brand Sanyo... but to quote The Rock... What, IN THE BLUE HELL, is GOME?
So aside from Gome and Sanyo, the HK harbor was, like Reggie in NYC circa 95, lights out. That giant HITACHI (not to be confused with Gilbert Arenas' HIBACHI) sign was off. So were the Panasonic logo and those club-like strobe lights over at Prudential building.
For once, HK did something for the enviroment. And it was quite a sight.

When the lights turned back on....the hippes came out in full force.
First there was a group of vegetarians trying to convert. As I walked past them I felt the craving for a Big Mac.
Then there was this old school cat with a boom box blasting music by the pier. When a security tried to get him to leave. He stuck it to him and fought for his rights to rock and roll.
He said that this was already a small boom box, and that he used to come with a bigger one. He also said they don't make music like they used to, and what he was listening to can't be found no more.
And you know what? The "suit" walked off!
It was awesome man. Rock and roll ain't no noise pollution!
Speaking of rock...everyone should go to Backstage Live on April 4th. Nirvana tribute gig.... should be amazing. I haven't seen any of the bands but come on they playing Nirvana songs, as long as they keep it as is and not add anything fruity (like a Brandon Flowers synthesizer), it's gonna be rad.
