breakout

A few entries ago I wrote about my rock and roll friend Mike Liu and how we recorded a punk/ska song a few years back. Well after some digging through the old computer, here it is.

This song was the product of one summer afternoon. We had spent all afternoon playing cover songs (mostly Green Day and No Doubt) when Mike suddenly picked up a pen and paper and wrote this in under 3 minutes. We then spent an hour recording. Well, Mike finished his guitar part in 10 minutes, but the rest of us kept messing up during recording we each had like 7 takes. We recorded our parts separately then Mike mixed it with Pro Tools. For him, it was just another spontaneous moment of creativity. For us, it was the highlight of our wanna be rock and roll career.

Originally titled Punk Song, we later changed it to Breakout because we had deep fried chicken earlier in the day and by the end of the jam session we grew zits.
