Brain vs Heart

We've all been there: our brain tells us we should do one thing, but the heart won't allow it to. The brain argues that it's logic. But the heart counters that logic doesn't always feel right.

Well who says you gotta choose a side? We can all be like a Los Angeles "sports fan" and be flip floppers, front runners, and bandwagon asscats, right? (I love Rasheed Wallace for coining that term. From now until the end of time, everytime I meet a fake sports fan I'm gonna call him a "bandwagon asscat")

It's possible to take a bit of logic and a bit of what feels right, and combine them together...I think.

Today, I was walking on Caine road and I wanted Chinese waffles.

My brain said no.

"It's unhealthy. They slab butter, peanut butter, and sugar all over that thing, it's a heart attack waiting to happen!"

But my heart said yes.

"Dude it tastes good, yo!"

In the end, they met in the middle. I called out to the intern.

"Yo Dominic, I'm gonna get a waffle but I don't want to eat the whole thing, wanna take half of it?"

"Sure dude."

The brain and the heart found a compromise. They met halfway and did one of them Black people handshake/hug combos (you know, where you start with the mid-five followed by a wraparound one armed hug and a pat on the back).

Everytime I go back to LA I do six of those things. Damn I miss them in Hong Kong.
