Masters of Taiji Quan

This week was Spring Break...... !!  Yeah, time to kick back and relax!  But, life still goes on.  so on Monday I was off to Cupertino to take part in the dedication and opening of the East-West University's Masters Degree Program.  It will be the first program of it's kind in the United States offering a degree in the teaching of Taiji...and will require students to both study philosophy and to learn the basic elements of Taiji.  It will also, importantly help students from other countries to come to America to study. But if you ever wanted to become a professional Taiji Teacher this is the program for you.....when completed you will be able to teach Taiji in public schools and Colleges. This will certainly put Taiji into the academic circles and will help to further promote it as an art for health and as an intellectual pursuit.  My role will be to act as a candidate examiner......will check to see if the candidates Taiji is up to snuff!!  All of the adjunct Taiji Faculty gave a brief demonstration:  Sifu Anthony Wong and I demonstrated traditional Chen Taiji and Hun Yan Chen Taiji, Sifu Paul Tam performed Sun Taiji, Professor Daniel Weng's instructors did Cheng Style Taiji of the Iron Butterfly,Sifu Lawrence Young gave a rendition of Fu Zhongwen Yang Taiji, Master Shi from the Shaolin Temple School performed the 56 Compulsory Chen Taiji form, and the performance finished with a demonstration of police self defense techniques.  Lunch was great and everyone agreed if we had more meetings like this every sifu would want to participate!!

But this week since it was a relaxing week that always means eating..........  so in the evening we went to what I would consider one of the best Japanese Restaurant  not in San Francisco Japantown.......SanMi on Geary Blvd across from the Post Office.  It always has fresh fish, superb sushi, and the steak melts in your mouth!!
