Hong Kong Olympic Delegation

CMAT is over and done with but this was not to be the end of the week.  Sunday Master Tat Mau Wong invited me to attend a party celebrating the Olympic Torch coming to San Francisco.  The party was hosted by the Hong Kong Olympic Delegation at New Asia Garden.....downstairs were the Chinatown Community Celebration, and upstairs was the Wushu Community. The event was attended by almost every major traditional Wushu School in San Francisco.  Many old friends I have not seen in along time.........Sifu Y.C.  Wong, Hong Jia Quan, Grandmaster Lily Lau, Ying Jow Quan, Sifu Shane Lacey and his father and Uncle represnting Buk Sing Choy Lay Fut, Sifu Ken Chung of Wing Chun,  Master Jiu Ji Ling who did the opening ceremony for CMAT......but also Wushu Coach Chris Pei from Alexandria Virginia, and Li Qiang from the Beijing Team!!  You could feel the excitment of both the Chinese Community and the Martial Arts Community over China receiving the recognition of hosting the Olympics.....and San Francisco getting the opportunity to receive the Olympic Torch.

Master Tat Wong was the host for the Olympic Torch Celebration.  The event was sponsored by the World Choy Lai Fut Association.

The Lions represented many of San Francisco's and Chinatown's Traditional Wushu Schools.  They participated in a Dim Jing Ceremony...to reawaken their Martial Arts Spirit and make them dance with strength and vigor when the Torch Relay Teams arrive on Wednesday.

Master Tat Wong was the gracious host for the evenings festivities...thanks for a memorable occasion

After, the Lion Awakening, each school performed.......but the most applause definitley....went to the young performers from Master Tat Mau Wong's School............all very young some 8-10 years old were just cute.....but very businesslike and precise.  Then many of the Masters gave speeches regarding the importance of the Olympic Torch coming to San Francisco and how as part of the Chinese Community we should be proud of this opportunity.....to share with people the hopes of the Olympic Spirit to unite people everywhere.  Then each of the members of the delegation from Hong Kong performed even the Great Grandmaster of Choy Lay Fut System...some 82 years young...he was still fast and agile!

Ok, well gotta go for now....we are practicing for the Olympic Torch Relay...the San Francisco Wushu Team.....the Taiji students will be part of the 300 performing 24 Yang Taiji!! If you are in the area stop by Justin Herman Plaza for the festivities! Cya!!
