Bagua Qinna Men

While the Summer Taining is done, there is still some work to do.  I have begun planning my own discipleship ceremony.  I will be taking 4-5 disciples this year to both teach the inner workings of traditional wushu and to train them to teach.  Our style is Bagua Zhao Shi Qinna Men,  while it is based on the Bagua of Li Zi Ming, it includes the Qinna or joint locking techniques of Master Zhao and Li Zi Ming, many of these techniques are not from Bagua but from other styles,  they both collected these techniques because of their own interest.  Master Zhao told me that his first generation disciples were all Bagua students, but in my generation Qinna will be primary.  Hence  workouts on saturday were all Qinna and Rou Sao, which means soft style...all those forms teach different Joint locking movements, are done slowly and softly like Taiji, but the training is not like Taiji......it's all throwing and locking your partner.  You use the listening power of Taiji, to apply the technique...utilizing the minimum effort to apply the qinna technique.  For me it will be also Taiji as a secondary speciality......since I have so many years of Taiji practice, and I know so many different styles of Taiji.

Ben and Michael got an idea what it means to be a disciple while they were training in China.  They were treated to very detailed instruction by Master Zhao and my classmates.  Since, they are expected to teach, instruction must be clear and every movement explained how it is used in the form then how to apply it in everyday situations.  After completing taining one day Ben told me it finally hit him what it means to be asked to be a disciple.  Being a disciple means you must not just teach a form but learn the meaning of a form, its history, development, and it cultural significance.  How it gets transmitted is up to your ability.  Not only must you know the form but also you must develop your own gung-fu.....that means lots of serious practice!

Anyway, right now designing the certificates and planning the venue for the ceremony, also working on instructional manual for the disciples. 

In other sports..........go Giants!!  I love their tenacity, despite losing some of their best athletes they keep plugging away.......that's gung-fu.  On the other hand I am real glad the government flubbed their attempt to prosecute Roger Clemens..........who cares now, we don't need to waste any more money on a useless prosecution.....the justice department just adding another million dollars or so to the national debt......we got lots of problems that could use some money!!  Politics just makes no sense......who cares what your ideology is just take care of what matters....we need a budget!!  As you can see politics from wushu to the national budget gets nothing done...everyone striving for their own face or their own agenda.....not for the good of the whole!  Isn't it just the way things have always been!??  Boo to democracts and republicans.  Ah, enough of that useless topic, sometimes all you can do is take care of your own thing and make sure you do it right!
